Kangana and Katrina's trantrums

Kareena Kapoor, who is presently at a vacation in Switzerland will come down to Mumbai to launch her dietician Rujuta Divekar’s latest fitness book titled “Women and the Weight Tamasha”.

The queen bee of Bollywood will not only lend her voice to the complementary audio book but will also tender a hand written note written by herself with each book.

Complementing Kareena who had also launched her earlier book titled ‘Don’t Lose Your Mind Lose Your Weight’, she stated “Kareena has been working round-the-clock on her films and so having her on board for the narration was out of question since I understood her busy schedule.”

She said further, “But when she casually found out about the audio-book she immediately wanted to narrate her own portion. It will be special to have her handwritten note in each boAir travel is stressful. Especially for actors who are forever on the run from one corner of the globe to another. Just because they are travelling first class, doesn't make it any easier.

The long flights, the lack of sleep and the time difference between two countries can be quite taxing, and sometimes people lose their cool.

A frequent traveller told us the tantrums thrown by  actresses Kangana Ranaut and Katrina Kaif while flying.

Says a source, "Katrina was travelling for her promotions for Tees Maar Khan and she'd fallen asleep, without making her seat upright, or tying her seat belt. Before take-off the airhostess called her name twice and tried to wake her up, but the actress was in deep sleep and didn't stir, so she gently tapped on the actress' bare shoulder (she was wearing a sleeveless top) and requested her to put on her seat belt."

The hostess was in for a surprise. An infuriated Katrina started yelling and firing her for touching her! Says an eye-witness, "She told her 'How dare you touch me?

Don't you know who I am?' Meanwhile this drew the attention of other passengers who started to wonder what the commotion was about. The flabbergasted airhostess apologized and then Katrina regained her composure and went back to sleep as if nothing had happened."

A source close to the actress however denies the incident, "People are making up these stupid stories! Katrina may have fallen asleep as she was travelling to different cities in a few days so she was exhausted. But she would never fight with someone for having touched her."

Kangana travels with her assistant everywhere. While Kangana travels first class, the boy travels economy class. Adds our insider, "The funny thing is: whenever the stewardess asks Kangana what she would like to eat or drink, the actress tells them to direct all queries to her assistant sitting in the economy class!

So the airhostess has to keep going back and forth searching for Kangana's assistant to satisfy her food demands."

Kangana's spokesperson says, "It's not true. Kangana travels with her spot boy Saleem, and sometimes her manager Saneha and make-up person and hairdresser. But the spot boy doesn't know what she eats. Kangana is not fussy and always eats what is served to her on flight.

She doesn't carry her meal and has no special meal preferences. Saneha travels business class and Kangna trusts her with her food requirements but such a thing has never happened with Saleem. Kangana loves food and sometimes cooks herself but she doesn't trust people with food."

Aishwarya Rai still endorses L'Oreal

Officials of cosmetic firm L'Oreal Paris have denied reports that Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has been replaced by Frieda Pinto as the new brand ambassador.

Reports of Frieda replacing Aishwarya came up after the Slumdog Millionaire star featured in L'Oreal's 'Happy New Year' television commercial.

'We are shocked and surprised to read in some sections of the media/press about Ms. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being replaced as the face of L'Oreal Paris,' said an official statement from the firm.

'L'Oreal Paris strongly reiterates that this is absolutely untrue and that Ms. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan continues to be our valued spokesperson, as she has since 2000. While she remains an integral part of the L'Oreal Paris world wide Dream Team, she was unfortunately unavailable for our New Year commercial shoot due to prior commitments.

'She is one of the most iconic women of our times and is certainly the face of L'Oreal Paris internationally and in India for a range of products which include campaigns for Total Repair 5, Excellence Creme, Color Riche, Hydrafresh,' the statement added

Turning 30 means coming to terms with who you are, says Gul Panag

Call it coincidence, if you wish. When actor Gul Panag signed up for “Turning 30”, she was “just turning 30”. “And, the film was probably the most logical thing for me to do at that point of time,” she says.

So, how comfortable is she with her age? “I'm happy at 30; 30 is the new 20,” she quips. “Now, you have a lot more opportunities at 30 than when you were 20,” she insists.

Gul continues: “At 30, you know yourself a lot better, you are grounded, you know what you want to do in life. That makes you a far more interesting person to be with. Nobody wants to be with a person who is not sure of what she is or what she wants to do. Turning 30 means coming to terms about who you really are, what you stand for and what your real beliefs are.”
Talking about “Turning 30”, Gul says director Alankrita Srivastava's vision was very similar to the kind of cinema she associates with. “It's a different matter that this film has turned out to be much bigger and much larger than what I had imagined it to be. But, we are on the same page when it comes to the kind of cinema that we identify with.”

Gul identifies urban Indian women as the primary audience of this film. “It is a film made for women, by women. In urban India, at 30, you are at a crisis point, because you have either made it in your career or you haven't. And, you can relate to my character, Naina. Any working girl who has been victim of office politics, who has been dumped by her boyfriend, whose friends are on her case to settle down, whose parents, especially her mother, is pressuring her to marry, will identify with Naina.”

On a personal note, Gul says: “Naina is far more gutsy, bold and liberated than I am. She is not bound by a fake sense of morality.”

Ask Gul which among the three traits — ‘sexy, naughty, flirty' — in the film's tagline describe her best, and she laughs: “All three!”

The actor says she shares a great working relationship with Purab Kohli. “We have a similar outlook towards acting and the way we look at scenes. I really enjoyed working with him.”

Gul's other projects include the Pritish Nandy production, “A Rectangular Love Story”, and a film with Ram Gopal Verma.

Fire breaks out at Ambedkar park in Noida

A fire broke out at Dr.Bhim Rao Ambedkar Park in Noida on Tuesday.
Six fire engines were immediately rushed to the spot to douse the fire. It took them almost an hour to douse the flames
Several Police officials had also reached the spot.
According to the sources, a dome was under construction in a section of the park and iron girders were being welded next to some thermocol boxes, sparking the blaze.

“The sparks from the welding came in contact with the boxes, which ignited instantly.

All the 24 labourers working in the area escaped unhurt in the incident, sources added.

Earlier, in a relief to Mayawati government, the Supreme Court in December 2010, gave a go ahead to the construction of the park.

The Apex court gave the permission with the condition that permanent structure will not exceed 25% of the total area.
The court  also appointed a 3-member committee to oversee the construction work at the site to ensure that the guidelines are being followed.
